The author defines critical thinking as “encouraging students to question their own unexamined beliefs, as well as the received wisdom of those around them.” I think critical thinking that author is talking about as the thinking of judgment and to know how to think instead of what to think. He gives on good examples on saying how cognitive behavioral therapy gives teaches good critical thinking skills. This gives students less depressions, anxiety and anger.
Fortune telling and trigger warnings may also give unhealthy mental habits to students that does not suffer from PTSD or other disorders. The author also talks about giving students to develop excuse to them being “offended” or “trigger” their past trauma to get out of the assignments in campus and all students. I think that tigger warnings that the article talks about with professors warning ahead in class to give people who suffer from mental disorder or past trauma a heads up is great idea but at the same time, normal people who does not have mental issues to just say they get “offended” from class to have excuse are a bit too far.
